LOCAL ORDINANCE PUTS A STOP TO BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY’S PROGRAM
Bridgeport, NJ (August 23, 2013) – Due to a local ordinance that limits the amount of races in a week, Bridgeport Speedway reluctantly cancelled the Fast and Furious Friday night program slated for August 23. As per the Logan Township regulation, the week begins on Friday and limits the speedway to two nights of racing during a week. Due to an added event on Thursday, August 29, the week of August 23 would have had three racing programs. Unfortunately, the Bridgeport Speedway management team was unable to get a waiver for the ordinance.

The winner of the 20-lap feature will go home with $928 which represents the two race car numbers (9A and 28) that Bill Hill drove during the majority of his racing career. The runner-up spot is worth $550 and the third place finisher will be rewarded with $450.The take the green money is $100. In addition to the enhanced purse to be spread throughout the field, racers can also look forward to lap money and trophies for the top three finishers of the 20-lap race.

Due to the nature of the special race, no weekly handicapping will occur for the Crate/Sportsman on this night as the competitors in the class will draw for their starting position in their heat race upon arrival. The top finishers in the qualifying events will be entered in the redraw for their starting spots in the 20-lap feature event. Each Crate/Sportsman competitor that attempts to qualify for this event will receive fifty points towards the 2013 championship standings.

In addition, the Big Block Modifieds and Outlaw Stock Cars will be on the racing agenda to round out the three- division card. Quarter Midget cars will be on display and will compete in an exhibition event on the quarter mile track.
