HORTON, REIDER, AND WAGNER GAIN WILD CARD WEEKEND WINS AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAYBridgeport, NJ (November 16, 2013) – On day one of Bridgeport Speedway’s Wild Card Weekend, Jimmy Horton gained the win in the Small Block Modified race. The fourth round of Black Flagged Racing’s Outlaw Stock Car Shoot-Out Series was won by Rich Reider. Eddie Wagner took top honors in the TSRS Sprint Car main event.
In the 30-lap feature for the Small Block Modifieds, Jimmy Horton paced the field for the entire distance to gain the win. After the original start was marred by a multi-car accident, Horton outdueled polesitter Kyle Borror to gain the lead. By the second circuit, Duane Howard was in the runner up position. Throughout the second half of the contest, Howard was glued on Horton’s bumper. Horton, driving the Dieter Schmidt owned Small Block Modified, held on for the victory by repelling several challenges from Howard in the final laps. With Howard finishing in second, Billy Pauch came home in third. Fourth went to Ryan Watt. Stewart Friesen, who was involved in the original start mishap, recovered to finish in fifth. The Small Block Modified heats went to John Willman, Anthony Perrego, Ryan Watt, and Mike Mamanna. Wade Hendrickson and Steve Young won the consolation events. There were forty-two Small Block Modifieds on hand for the event.
In the Fallen Friends 20, the fourth event in the Shoot-Out Series sponsored by Black Flagged Racing, Rich Reider returned to Bridgeport Speedway to win the very competitive race. Vern McLaughlin paced the field for the first twelve circuits. Reider, who started in second but slipped back to fourth at the beginning of the affair, grabbed the lead on the thirteenth circuit. Reider, who lives in Maine, fought off a last lap charge by McLaughlin for the victory. Jason Saredy finished in third. Bill Liedtka and Pat Conaway rounded out the top five. Vern McLaughlin, Jason Saredy, Bill Liedtka, and Jimmy Hughes won the qualifying races in the Outlaw Stock Car division. The consolation event was taken by Ken Watson.
Eddie Wagner led from start to finish as he captured the checkered flag in the 20-lap main for the TSRS Sprint Cars. Karl Freyer took the runner-up spot. Dave Brown, Rick Stief, and Jamie Kostic completed the top five.
