BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY'S 2014 ROOKIE SERIES ONCE AGAIN BACKED BY D.A.'S AUTO BODY & AUTO REPAIR
Bridgeport, NJ (January 15, 2014) With the 2014 racing campaign quickly approaching, racing teams and fans are chomping at the bit to get the year started. With the resurrection of Bridgeport Speedway in 2013, there were many lasting impressions throughout the season. One byproduct from last year that was part of the speedway's turnaround, which certainly grabbed the attention of the Bridgeport fans as well as competitors, was the Crate/Sportsman rookie crop.

It was 18-year old New Hope, PA driver Ian Humphreys who captured the D.A's Auto Body Rookie Championship once the 12-race series was concluded. Humphreys drove to six victories on his way to the title. 20-year old Jesse James Bonaduce hounded Humphreys all the way to the final checkered flag finishing second in the point standings, while collecting three wins. Rounding out the top 3 in the point standings was 21-year old Kris Lilick. Lilick also visited the winner's circle on three occasions in the dozen races.

It's what these three young chauffeurs displayed in regular Crate/Sportsman action that has everyone impressed. Humphreys was able to drive to his first career win in early August, while just missing the top 10 in the final point tabulations. Bonaduce also grabbed a win in regular Crate/Sportsman competition on the final point night thrusting him into a top 10 in the final point standings. Although Lilick didn't win a regular competition race, he placed second one evening to his older brother Bob Jr., while placing 14th in the final point charts.

Dave Adams of D.A's Auto Body & Auto Repair has already committed to backing the 2014 Rookie Series once again. Adams, who is also a member of the Bridgeport management team, was thrilled with last year's rookie class and is looking forward to an even better 2014. "I thought the rookie field last year was second to none and when those young guys moved up to the Crate/Sportsman division, some of them looked like veterans out there. Like I mentioned last year, we need guys to keep entering this sport.its very important to keep injecting new blood into short track racing as well as Bridgeport Speedway. D.A.'s is more than happy to be a part of the Rookie Series again."

D.A.s has once again put up a generous point fund for the rookie drivers. The D.A.s Auto Body and Auto Repair Champion will walk away from the Bridgeport Banquet with a $500 first prize check along with plenty of other hardware for their winning efforts. Second place in points will receive $300 and third place will receive $200 in prize money along with plaques and trophies, all courtesy of D.A.s Auto Body and Repair.

The rookie class will run 11 races starting April 12 and will continue until graduation night which will be held on Saturday, June 28. The D.A.s Auto Body and Repair rookies will compete in an 8-lap rookie race each week. The winner of each rookie race will receive a first place trophy and will automatically qualify for the Crate/Sportsman feature event. The rookie feature will serve as their heat race. The remaining drivers will then tag on the back of the consolation event(s) and try to race their way into the Crate/Sportsman 20-lap feature.

With over 30 years of experience, D.A.'s Auto Body is located in Feasterville, PA. Whether you need a basic oil change or you've been in a fender bender, they'll keep your car working and looking as good as new. Routine maintenance, state inspections, collision work, engine work, brakes, transmissions; you name it and D.A.s will take care of you. They also offer 24-hour emergency towing. Early last week, Stephen Kemery was the first rookie to enter the series. Kemery is no stranger to Bridgeport, as he currently campaigns weekly on the quarter-mile track in his 600cc micro sprint. The 24-year old Turnersville, NJ resident is hoping to parlay some of his 'Friday Night' success into Saturday night fortune in the Crate/Sportsman division. Kemery's No. 69k '10 Bicknell will be on display at the Motorsports Expo.
