WADE WINS BRAY MEMORIAL MODIFIED RACE AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (November 22, 2009) - Wade Hendrickson, the 2009 Big Block Modified Track Champion, won the Charlie Bray Memorial BPG Racing\ Hooters Restaurant Tri-Track Big Block Modified feature at Bridgeport Speedway. Mike Lyons claimed the 358 Sportsman event with Tim Tanner, Jr. taking the GM Sportsman race. PJ Oliver was the victor in the Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stock feature. In the Limited\Race Saver 305 Sprint main, Chuck Palmucci snared the checkered flag.

Pole-sitter Matt Harrell took the early lead in the 35-lap BPG Racing\Hooters Restaurant Big Block Tri-Track Modified feature with Ray Swinehart gaining the second spot on lap 3 just prior to the caution lights flickering for a multi-car tangle. On the ensuing restart, Swinehart took the lead from Harrell but a right rear flat on Mike Franz's machine caused another yellow flag to appear on lap 4. When action resumed, Harrell retook the lead with Wade Hendrickson gaining the runner-up spot. Pat Ward's slow moving car on the speedway caused another caution period on lap 5. When the green flag waved again, Hendrickson took the lead from Harrell with Ryan Watt gaining the third position. Hendrickson had a large lead when the event slowed down for a spin by Franz on lap 11. With Hendrickson maintaining his command on the resumption of racing, Richie Pratt Jr. jumped up to the runner-up spot passing Harrell and Watt. As the laps clicked off, Hendrickson again began to distance himself from the pack. Back in the field, nineteenth place starter Craig Von Dohren was continuing to mow down his foes and moved into fourth on lap 19. With Hendrickson beginning to lap his competitors, the yellow lights illuminated for the final time when the modified of Jimmy Horton, IV blew a motor on lap 28. Once more, Hendrickson pulled away from the field on the restart and led the remaining laps to gain the win. Pratt, Jr. came home in second place with Von Dohren finishing in third. Fourth place was taken by Watt and Rick Laubach came back from an early race pitstop to get fifth. With his fifth place finish, Laubach was crowned the 2009 BPG Racing\Hooters Restaurant Tri-Track Big Block Modified Champion. The Big Block Modified qualifying event winners were Watt, Laubach and Swinehart. Von Dohren scored the win in the consolation race.

In the 358 Sportsman 25-lap race, Mike Lyons overtook Jack Swain on lap 11 and held off Swain in the final laps for his second career win at Bridgeport Speedway. With Swain in second place, Craig Whitmoyer drove up from his fifteenth place start to finish in third. Ron Roberts and Sean Gunther rounded out the top five. Dave Dissinger, Andrew Weygand and Swain were the victors in the 358 Sportsman heat races. Gene Stravinsky took the checkered flag in the 358 consolation race.

In the 20-lap GM Sportsman event, Tim Tanner was the winner after scooting by Mike White for the lead on lap 16. White was second with John Micek finishing in third. Bob Burgess and Jim Spellmon filled out the top five. The GM Sportsman heat winners were Micek and White.

Two laps after losing the lead to Nick Gargiulo on lap 16, PJ Oliver regained the lead and won the 20-lap Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stock feature when Gargiulo spun after a mechanical issue. Pat Conaway, the 2009 Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stock champion, crossed the finish line in third place. Completing the top five were Dean Woolford and Karl Wagner. Outlaw Stock heats were claimed by Conaway and Jeremy Doerr.

Chuck Palmucci took the lead from Jeff Mueller on lap 10 and won the 20-lap Limited\Race Saver 305 Sprint feature. Mueller finished in second with John Wyers getting third. Jim Campbell and Jonathan Swanson completed the top five.
