THUNDERSTORM FORCES WINGATE CLASSIC AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY TO JUNE 23rd RAINDATE
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (June 22, 2010) - An early evening thunderstorm drenched Bridgeport
Speedway and forced management to postpone the George Wingate Classic scheduled to be
held on Tuesday, June 22nd. The 2010 edition of the George Wingate Classic at Bridgeport
Speedway will now take place on Wednesday, June 23rd. Like the 2009 edition, this year’s
Wingate Classic will feature twin 20-lap features for the Tri-Track Big Block Modifieds.
This will be the thirteenth annual race that honors the late Bridgeport Speedway
promoter. The first Tri-Track Big Block Modified feature will be the Frank Franz Memorial
feature. The Bill Chester Memorial feature will be the second twenty lap event for the
Tri-Track Big Block Modifieds.
Also, a 358 Open Sportsman 20-lap race will be on the schedule paying $800 to win and
$100 to take the green.
The pit gates on Wednesday, June 23rd will open at 4:00 PM, grandstand gates open at 5:00
PM, and the racing will commence at 7:30 PM. General Admission tickets are $23 for
adults. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free. Pit Admission for this event will be $35.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free parking, giveaways
and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport
Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the
center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and
Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295. |
