Monday September 27, 2010 HENDRICKSON TALLIES TENTH WIN OF THE YEAR AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY BRIDGEPORT, NJ (September 26, 2010) - On a night when JJ Yeley and
Speed Channel’s Bob Dillner made special appearances at Bridgeport
Speedway, Wade Hendrickson tallied his tenth Big Block Modified
feature win of the year. In the Crate Modified division, Larry
Lippincott scored his fourth feature win of the season with Neal
Williams taking home the 2010 championship. Pat Conaway capped off his
championship year in the Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stock class with his
seventh checkered flag.
After the original start of the 25-lap Big Block Modified event was
marred by Jack Hartnett’s spin, Mike Iles grabbed the lead with Wade
Hendrickson, Jimmy Wyers, Brett Ballard and Ron Roberts in the early
chase. Just as Iles was increasing his lead, the action was slowed
down on lap 3 when Mike Franz’s ride came to stop on the backstretch.
Once racing resumed, the top two remained the same with Jimmy Chester
motoring into third on lap 5 and Chad James driving up to fourth on
lap 7. Iles and Hendrickson were separating themselves from the pack
as they hit lap traffic on the tenth circuit. On lap 14 with
Hendrickson closing in on Iles, the yellow lights illuminated as Chic
Cossaboone slowed down in front of the grandstands. When the green
flag waved again, Hendrickson powered by Iles to take the lead with
James taking over third from Chester. Also, JJ Yeley, a current driver
in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, continued his way to the front by
advancing into the top five after starting in fourteenth. Once in
front, Hendrickson began to dominate the race. With five laps to go,
Hendrickson extended his lead over Iles by a full straightway. As the
checkered flag waved, Hendrickson was a full five seconds ahead of
Iles to achieve his tenth win of the year. With Iles in second, James
finished in third and Chester took home a fourth place run. Yeley held
on to finish in fifth. The winners of the Big Block Modified heat
races were Hendrickson and Ron Roberts.
In the double point 20-lap race for the Crate Modifieds, Larry
Lippincott was victorious for the fourth time this season. Lippincott
started in ninth place and passed Dan Cogdill for the lead on lap 4.
Neal Williams, who began the event in eleventh, used his hard fought
second place finish to narrowly capture the 2010 Crate Modified
Championship over Lippincott. Brett Kressley wound up in third. The
top five was completed by Tom Miller and Mike Cogdill. Dan Cogdill and
Lippincott each won a Crate Modified qualifying race.
Pat Conway clinched his third consecutive Proformance Cuts Outlaw
Stock Championship by winning his seventh feature of the year. Conaway
led every lap of the race after he started in fourth place. Rick
Broschard finished in second while Ken Watson, Jr. grabbed third. Nick
Gargiulo and Herman Solderich rounded out the top five. Conaway and
Jeremy Doerr were the heat race winners.
