Tuesday December 07, 2010 CRATE MODIFIED DIVISION TO HEADLINE SATURDAY NIGHT RACING IN 2011 AT
BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY BRIDGEPORT, NJ (December 6, 2010) - In an effort to bring
affordability back to racing, Bridgeport Speedway owner Jay James
announced that Saturday night racing in 2011 at the Southern New
Jersey complex will feature the Crate Modifieds. In stating the change
in front of an audience of drivers and owners at the Holiday Inn in
Swedesboro, NJ on Saturday December 4, James laid out his plan
including the purse and point fund pay out for the 2011 Crate Modified
champion.
“This is a very fast growing class and we were one of the first tracks
to adopt the GM Crate motors,” said James following the meeting. “The
2011 champion of the Crate Modified class will be taking home $10,000
which is the same as the Big Block Modified champions have done in the
past. The difference is that competitors can get a Crate Modified
engine for a little more than $3,000 as opposed to a Big Block motor
that could cost as much as $40,000. We are committed to running the
full season with the Crate Modifieds as the headlining class.”
The Crate Modifieds will be racing for a strong payday on a nightly
basis based on the amount of cars in the pits. If the car count in the
Crate Modified class is thirty or under, the winner of the feature
event will take home $1,000. If the car count exceeds thirty, the
victor of the feature will receive $1,200.
With the change, the Big Block Modified class will not be appearing on
a weekly basis in 2011 but will be added to special events during the
season. Track management is working on the 2011 schedule and the
complete list of events including appearances by the URC Sprints,
Super Late Models and ARDC Midgets will be released shortly. As the
operator of Georgetown Speedway, James and his management team are
also working on the 2011 racing schedule for the historic half-mile
dirt oval track located in Southern Delaware.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free
parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest
Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile
dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and
is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania
and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
