Sunday September 25, 2011 BRIDGEPORT’S SUPER LATE MODEL SPECTACULAR SUFFERS ANOTHER POSTPONEMENT
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (September 25, 2011) – Bridgeport Speedway’s Super Late Model Spectacular was postponed for the second time this year on September 24 due to wet conditions at the track and a forecast of additional rain. Bridgeport Speedway management is discussing various options and they are planning to re-schedule the race for this year.
Action at Bridgeport Speedway will resume on Friday, September 30 with a qualifying event for the Bill Thomas Memorial Micro-Sprint Nationals. At this special race, the top three finishers in the 270cc and 600cc Micro-Sprint main events will earn starting spots in the Bill Thomas Memorial Nationals that take place on Saturday, October 8. Plus, 4-Cylinder Stock Cars and open Modifieds will be on the program. Modified cars may use sail panels on this night. On Friday, September 30, the gates open at 5:00 p.m. with racing set to start at 7:00 p.m. Adult admission to the grandstand is $12 with no charge for children 12 and under. Admission to the pit area is $25 with a license and $30 without a license.
Championship Night 2011 for the 5/8th mile divisions occurs on Saturday, October 1. Double point features for the Bridgeport Modifieds and Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stock Cars will determine the season champions. The big outer oval will see an invasion by the popular TSRS Sprint Cars. The Big Block Modifieds have been added to the docket and will have a 25-lap feature on the quarter mile. As was the case on Saturday, September 17, Big Block Modified competitors can use sail panels for this contest on the inner dirt oval. Any Modified track tire that is 13 x 92 will be allowed for competition on this night. The winner of this 25-lap Big Block Modified main event on Championship Night 2011 will receive $1200 if more than thirty cars are entered. If the field of Big Block Modifieds is less than thirty, the victor will go home with $1000. Additional information can be found at www.bpspeedway.com or by calling the office at 302-875-4197. Double duty is in store for the Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stock Cars as they will have a special 20-lap event on the inner dirt oval. A special Powder Puff race will be held at the end of the evening on the quarter mile track.
On Championship Night slated for Saturday, October 1, competitors can enter the pit area at 3:00 p.m. and grandstand turnstiles open at 4:00 p.m. The first race will hit the track at 6:00 p.m. Adult admission to the grandstand will be $20 with kids 12 and under admitted for free. Residents of Franklin Township will be admitted to the grandstand for $15 with proper identification. Pit admission is $30 with a pit license and $40 without a license.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
