MOMENTUM FOR BRIDGEPORT’S 60 OVER SPECIAL GROWS WITH ADDITIONAL ENTRIES AND INCENTIVES
Bridgeport, NJ (March 28, 2013) – Momentum and interest is growing for Bridgeport Speedway’s “60 Over Special” taking place on Saturday, March 30 in Southern New Jersey. As the date of this exciting event draws near, several drivers have recently confirmed their attendance at this race.

In the Big Block Modified ranks, Matt Sheppard, Eldon Payne, Jerry Higbie, Mike Mahaney, and Tommy Meier are slated to compete in the 60-lap Race of Champions feature that honors Doug Hoffman, the late promoter of the track. Other expected invaders for the race, which will serve as hand one of Bridgeport Speedway’s Poker Series, include Brett Hearn, Bobby Varin, Billy Decker, JR Heffner, Pat Ward, Larry Wight, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Pauch, Duane Howard, Craig Von Dohren, Jimmy Blewett, and Ryan Godown. Bridgeport Speedway stars such as Rick Laubach, Richie Pratt, Jr., Jimmy Horton, Ryan Watt, Eric Kormann, Jesse Hill, Mike Barone, Ron Roberts, Tommy Beamer, and Stan Frankenfield are ready to defend their home turf. New regulars to Bridgeport Speedway in 2013 including Dominic Buffalino, David Hunt, Sam Martz, and Mike McAleer are set to impress the fans. The winner of this event can go home with a cool $6,060.60 by enrolling in the “60 Over Challenge”, a $60 gambler’s fee. Through GuntherRacing.com, a 26-car field will now take the green flag for the 60-lap Big Block Modified feature.

The Crate/Sportsman Poker Series gets underway with a 30-lap feature. Similar to the Big Block Modified class, a large contingent of non-regulars will be on hand including Marc Herman, Bryan Kuhl, Mike Lyons, and Rich Rutski. The top five finishers in the Crate/Sportsman race as well as the Big Block Modified contest will take home trophies courtesy of HCI and Mike Lyons.

In addition, the new Outlaw Stock Car Shoot-Out Series cranks up with the 20-lap Bill Reynolds Memorial Race. This initial contest will honor the late Bridgeport Speedway novelty stand owner. Through Lee Hansen of First Class Painting in Williamstown, NJ, the winner of each of the five Shoot-Out Series events will take home $500.

For this special opening day event, several additional activities are scheduled to take place. Katie Todorow, Miss Motorsports 2013, will be on hand. An Easter Egg Hunt will occur in the quarter mile pit area near the main grandstand entrance. A balloon launch is slated to be held before the first qualifying race takes place. Introduced last season and very popular with fans, the Big Block Modifieds will be staged on the midway behind the spectator stands. After being on display throughout the day, a restored “60 Over” 1986 Olsen Modified formerly driven by Doug Hoffman will pace the feature line-up. Just before the 60-lap race begins, the missing man formation will take shape on the 5/8th mile. Joette Hoffman, Doug’s daughter, will wave the green flag to get the contest underway. All fans and crew members are encouraged to stand on the opening circuit and final tour of the race. Numerous new novelty items will be on sale during the day including a Doug Hoffman photo collage and memorial sticker. 2013 Poker Series shirts and hoodies can be purchased as well.

On Saturday, March 30, the pit gates swing open at 11:00 a.m. with the grandstand turnstiles opening at 1:00 p.m. Hot laps get cranked up at 3:00 p.m. and racing starts at 4:00 p.m. Adult (16 and older) admission for the opener will be $25 with students (10-15) being admitted for $12. Kids 9 and under are free. Admittance to the pits is $35.
