Monday March 30, 2009 WET WEATHER WIPES OUT TWO ATTEMPTS AT PRACTICE AS OPENING DAY NEARS AT
BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY BRIDGEPORT, NJ (March 30, 2009) - Although Bridgeport Speedway had plans
to have a 5/8th mile practice session on Saturday March 28th with a rain
date of Sunday March 29th, good old Mother Nature had a different
thought process. Rain showers on both days created a soggy race track
and forced management to cancel practice on both days.
With the 2009 season ready to begin, one more possible attempt at
practice on the 5/8th mile at Bridgeport Speedway is being planned. If
Georgetown Speedway is able to complete their 2009 season opener on
April 4th, practice at Bridgeport Speedway will be held on Sunday, April
5th at Noon for 5/8th mile competitors. Should weather conditions force
a postponement of the April 4th program at Georgetown Speedway, the
April 5th date will be used as a raindate for Georgetown Speedway and
practice will not occur at Bridgeport Speedway.
Even with the damp conditions on the last weekend of March, preparations
have been in full swing for the upcoming season at Bridgeport Speedway.
The 2009 5/8th mile season starts in a big way on Saturday April 11th at
6:00 PM. The $3000 to win Spring Fever Tri-Track 30, the second race of
the newly formed ten race Tri-Track Big Block Modified Challenge Series,
will take place on the opening night card. Also, the sixty-second season
of competition for the URC Sprints kicks into gear as well. The 358
Sportsman and GM Sportsman round out this spectacular four-division
program. Pit Gates will open at 12:00 PM, Grandstand Gates open at 4:00
PM and Warm-Ups will begin at 5:00 PM. Adult general admission is $25
with kids 12 and under admitted for free. Pit admission is $30 with a
pit license and $40 without a license.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free
parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt
Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt
oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is
located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and
Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
