SUMMER HEAT TWIN 25'S GO TO COSSABOONE AND GRASSO AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (August 9, 2009) - On Government Employee Night at
Bridgeport Speedway, Summer Heat Twin 25-lap features were won by Chic
Cossaboone and JJ Grasso. Cossaboone was the winner in the Big Block
Modified feature while Grasso took the checkered flag in the Risolone
URC Sprint main event. Neal Williams claimed the GM Sportsman race.
The 358 Sportsman and the Proformance Outlaw Stock Car main events
were postponed due to curfew.

Mike Barone took the lead in the initial start of the 25-Lap feature
for the Big Block Modifieds. Unfortunately before completing a lap,
Barone's car barrel rolled several times in turn three before exiting
the track. When action resumed again following the red flag, Mike
Franz jumped out to the lead but another incident illuminated the red
lights on lap 1. After apparent interaction with another competitor,
Stan Frankenfield, Jr. spun in the homestretch. Tom Solderich made
contact with Frankenfield's car and launched Solderich's machine into
the air. Following the unfortunate incident, Chic Cossaboone took the
lead from Franz but a tangle between Franz and Ryan Watt drew a
caution flag on lap 2. Cossaboone maintained his lead on the restart
with Matt Harrell and Wade Hendrickson in tow. Hendrickson took over
the runner-up spot on lap 6. Using the high side of the raceway,
Hendrickson began to reel in Cossaboone and took over the top spot on
lap 8. Just past the halfway, eighteenth place starting Jimmy Horton
engaged in a ferocious battle with Harrell for third place with Horton
grabbing the position on the fourteenth circuit. Cossaboone was
inching closer to Hendrickson when the yellow flag waved on lap 16 for
Steve Durand and his flat tire. Hendrickson fought back a challenge
from Cossaboone on the restart to maintain his lead. After two more
laps of green racing, another caution occurred when Harrell spun in
turn four. This time on the resumption of racing, Cossaboone blasted
by Hendrickson to take the lead. Also, Horton slipped by Hendrickson
to gain second place. Cossaboone drew off from the pack to claim his
second career Big Block Modified victory at Bridgeport. For his
career, Cossaboone has a total of twenty-two wins at the Southern New
Jersey dirt oval. Horton held on for second place with Hendrickson
taking third. Chad James was fourth while Steve Bottcher finished in
fifth. Hendrickson, Watt and Horton won the Big Block Modified
qualifying events.

In the Risolone URC Sprint 25-lap race, Jonathan Swanson, a former
Bridgeport Limited Sprint driver, took advantage of his front row
start and hopped to the early lead with Becca Anderson, Davey Sammons,
Chris Coyle and JJ Grasso in the early chase. While running in sixth,
a yellow flag was thrown on lap 5 as Trevor Lewis experienced a front
end failure and stopped in the middle of turns three and four. Swanson
kept his lead when the green lights flickered on. Further back, last
place starting Curt Michael continued his charge to the front as he
strutted up to sixth by lap 8. With Anderson beginning to close on
Swanson, Grasso was edging closer to the front as he navigated to
third place by lap 11. Anderson took the lead from Swanson on lap 12
while Grasso and the hard charging Michael put Swanson down one
additional position on the following circuit. Also on lap 13, a light
but steady rain shower caused a forty-five minute delay in racing.
After the track crew re-groomed the track, back to back cautions
occurred on the next two laps before Grasso wrestled the lead from
Anderson on lap 16. Michael and Sammons traded third place over the
next few routes before Michael's car flipped in turn four on lap 19.
On the final restart, Grasso drew away from Anderson and grabbed his
fifth Risolone URC Sprint win of the year. Second place went to
Anderson with Sammons taking third. Fourth spot was garned by Robbie
Stillwagon and the final spot in the top five was taken by Justin
Collett. The winners of the URC Sprint heat races were Sammons and
Swanson.

After taking the lead on lap 10, Neil Williams survived a lap 17
restart and snared his fourth victory of the season in the GM
Sportsman division. Williams, who started in fifteenth place, ascended
into the lead when he passed rookie Bob Bracall at the halfway point
of the 20-lap event. Williams was followed across the finish line by
Chuck Buchman, Corey Anderson, Bracall and Eric Kormann.

Due to the time curfew, the feature events for the 358 Sportsman and
Proformance Cuts Outlaw Stocks were unable to be completed. Jesse
Hill, Dan Cogdill and Bob Lineman, Jr. were the victors of the heat
races for the 358 Sportsman.

On Saturday, August 15th, all fans will have a chance to win some
fantastic giveaways as Fan Appreciation Night will be celebrated. Both
the 358 Sportsman and GM Sportsman will have two features which will
include the make up main events from July 25th. The Big Block

receive their “rewards”. Qualifying events start at 7:00 PM on
